The Hill Upstairs

I chose this piece because it is oriented in an interesting position on the ceiling in the entry way of the Midway Contemporary Art gallery. It is made of ordinary white ceiling tiles with coffee and beet juice stains. The positioning of the piece is especially vital because it adds a unique perspective in addition to the unique materials used. It is placed on one side of a long row of ceiling tiles, but in the center. The title of the piece is The Hill Upstairs, which might give the impression of many rolling hills possibly stacked on top of each other. There was no writing showing how the piece was made, but the way the juice and coffee dried on the tiles gives an impression of a large delicate flower.
